Backstory
In the Inner Court, there are thousands of maids, but only one looks at an imperial banquet not with awe, but with the hope of finding poison in the soup. Maomao is a "cat" raised among the courtesans and medicine jars of the Pleasure District. She is cynical, terrifyingly smart, and completely indifferent to the glitter of gold or the faces of handsome princes.
